Software Development

Programs I've written over the years — from DOS emulators to modern recompilers.

VGen — Virtual Genesis

1998 · DOS

A DOS-based emulator for the Sega Genesis video game console, written in C and Assembler. First released January 23, 1998 — by far the most popular program I've ever made, with around a million downloads. Its final release (v0.21a, 2001) added preliminary Sega CD support — the first emulator ever to do so.

RGen — Genesis Recompiler

2026 · Windows

Recompiles Sega Genesis games into native Windows applications. Translates 68000 and Z80 machine code into C, then compiles it locally — with widescreen mods, save states, and controller support. The sibling project to VGen, 28 years later.
